New data released by the Labor Department shows that as of about a year ago, 4.3-million Americans worked as retail salespeople. That makes retail salesperson the number one U.S. job, and the job that comes in second is retail cashier with 3.3-million people ringing up items each day. The data shows that the average retail salesperson makes just 25,310-dollars per year, while cashiers make an average of 20,370-dollars per year. But the data shows women have it the worst, making 64-percent as much as their male equivalents in retail sales last year.
