The holiday season is upon us and that means family time! Sibling relationships can be complicated and delicate, so here are some tips for getting closer to (or at least getting along with) your sisters and brothers ...

  • Childhood is like Vegas – Let what happened there stay there. Don't guilt yourself over things that went down when you were kids. Forgive and you'll all be happier.

  • Mind your manners. Would you ask a friend if she's gained weight? Or ask her why her boyfriend's a jerk? No? Don't ask your sister, either!

  • Don't be the family mole. Sibling relationships are often defined by gossip. Trash talk isn't good for anyone ... so cut it out!

  • Avoid hot-button topics. If you're not on the same wavelength about politics, religion, child-rearing or whatever – it's best to avoid the subject!
