It might not have been the best parenting decision.
A mother duck has been caught on camera leading her ducklings across a busy highway to get to their destination on the other side.
Footage gives a bird's eye view of the harrowing trek across the highway in Toronto, Canada as the family narrowly misses being hit by vehicles.
Their mother leads them through a hole at the base of a cement barrier before they shuffle speedily onto the road.
After a lorry rattles past, the ducklings retreat and their mother waddles back to them, apparently giving them a pep talk before they continue.
On a couple of occasions, the feathered family is scattered across the highway by the force of passing lorries and cars.
But even when it appears some of the ducklings have been hit, they all climb back onto their feet and re-group in a line.
Somehow the lucky ducks reach the other side of the five-lane highway unscathed and waddle to a grassy area.
Their treacherous journey dodging speeding cars is reminiscent of the 1980s arcade game Frogger - but all these ducklings complete it first time.
