Last week, our baby monitor broke. For a few minutes I actually considered not replacing it. That thought quickly went away, but it did open up the discussion:
When do you turn off the baby sleep monitor?
I got a bunch of different answers from our listeners:
Michaela: 3
Caryn: I did at 2 when they became more vocal.
Naiza: Around 2
April: lol my son is 5 and still got one!! My hubby wants to sleep with the door shut and tv on and I can't sleep if I cant hear what is going on outside my room...
Andrea: 2 1/2. Around when they are potty
Mayra: Few months later
Marcus:I'm 23 and my mom hasn't turned her off yet hahaha!
Frank: We still have it on and he is going on 5. But we have a 2 story house and he sleeps in a bunk bed. Better safe than sorry. Not really sure when we will quit using it
Kevin: My son is 4 and we still need to hear him snored to go to sleep
Shannon: My girls are almost 3 & 5 and I still use a video monitor because one of them is a night owl. 10 years ago when my older two were the same age I stopped using a monitor before they were two. I guess I'm addicted to technology.
Laura: Yall are nuts, I'd say as around 8 or 9 months. A 2 or 4 year old KID does not need a BABY monitor, an overprotective mother does. But, you can't begrudge a mother for protecting her kids!
Sarah: Never LOL
Gerald: at 18 yrs old when they move out get a job and pay their own bills.
Lori Marie: My almost 15 year old just texts me from her room now. ♥. The real baby monitor turned off when she started sleeping in my bed! LOL!
Heather: 2 years old or when sleeping in a regular bed.
Dana: When you have a Ginger kid..... Never. You upgrade to video with audio
Nathalie: When u feel comfortable with it not being on
Amanda: When the child is old enough to come to you if they need something. :o) Or when they move out around 18.
Caty: I stopped at a year
Chrissy: As soon as they started crying :)
Jeanette: When it stopped working- when my son was about 1 yrs old.
Stefani: My son is 7 and I still use it since he is on the other side of the house and used to have night terrors. He has not had them in a long time so I will probably stop soon.
Carol: My son's 2.5yrs old and I still use ours... I don't think I'll ever turn it off LOL
Shanna: Never even used one, we could hear our son over the monitor and I swear those monitors have a delay...Its so annoying having one!!!
Jacque: 2-2 1/2 anything older is ridiculous a child will cry out if they need you and if your worried do like regular parents and wake up once or twice and take a walk to their room... You want to establish self sufficenicy as well as independence in a child....
Darleen: 21 years old!!!
Sarah: One son is 7 years old and 9 months still have one here
Sami: My mother kept a baby monitor in my room until I was twelve it was the worst thing ever
Ranger: ours survived without one! And yes, we did have electricity!
Kait: 18!
