It's Our American Duty

It's the first Friday of June, which may not mean a whole lot to you, but it means a great deal to people who love deep-fried sugary dough. It's National Doughnut Day, and it's not just some made up holiday created by Krispy Kreme. This holiday goes back 75 years.

National Doughnut Day was actually created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the men and women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the first World War. But even if you don't care about the history of National Doughnut Day, you can still appreciate the fact that you can get a free doughnut today at many shops including Dunkin' Donuts, Krispy Kreme, Tim Horton's and Winn-Dixie.
